Thank you for sharing your lovely cabin in the mountains. John and I had a wonderfully
relaxing, enjoyable, peaceful, and snow-filled time in Sierra City. Although we had driven through Sierra City a
year ago, we didn't realize how beautiful the town really is and the views from the cabin made it all that more beautiful.
I especially enjoyed the cemetery (I know, how odd), but I found it amazing how this small mountain community
embodies the American Experience as many of the headstones from the 1800s reveal an individual's native land. What
a draw the United States, California, and the gold rush have been and still are a draw from all over the world and
embodied in this cemetery. No only did we find the town beautiful, but we also found the people of Sierra City
to be wonderful people. Toni, from the store, loaned us a radio so we could listen to the football games on saturday
and sunday. Although we didn't get great reception, I was still able to hear the scores in the evening. Toni
also helped us find someone to help dig ourselves out of the snow. I don't recall the woman's name who also
worked at the store, but she entertained us one day with stories of bears and bears not hibernating in the winter!
It started snowing on Sunday night and didn't quit. The snow turned to rain some
on weds, but then thursday morning we were back to having accumulated 8-12 inches on top of the 12-16 inches already on
the ground. More of the same on friday. By thursday morning we could no longer see out the window in the kitchen due
to the snow accumulating from sliding off the roof. It was quite beautiful it really was. My Christmas wish
was to see the snow fall and so wishes do come true. We did have a wonderful time.
Thank you so much for sharing your little piece of heaven in the mountains.
Sincerely,
Sharon
P.S.
Thank you for having wonderful mattresses. John and I have rented many cabins over the last several years,
and yours gave us the most peaceful sleep! Thank you.
