My Stay
Hi Penny,
Just thought I'd drop you a line to let you know we had a great time at your
cabin last week. It was truly amazing to be back in the old house after 24 years. You've done a great
job with the house. Its nice to see that it is still being cared for as much now as it was when my family owned
it. Back when I was a kid there was an upstairs deck and bathroom which are obviously gone now. My brother
and I used to love sleeping out on the back deck when we were little. The view from the front deck is probably my favorite
thing about the house, and strangely enough it is exactly the same as it was years ago. For that matter Sierra
City seems to be almost exactly the same as well. Very little has changed. While we were there we hiked to the
lookout at the top of the Sierra Buttes. I had always wanted to do this as a kid. I took us 2 tries. On
the first attempt we took the Pacific Crest Scenic Trail from just outside S.C. We had to turn back after about
6 miles, still well short of the top. Ran short on food, water, and energy. Nice view looking down on Sierra
City from this side. A few days later we left from Packer Lake. That was much easier. Only about a
7 mile round trip. The view from the top is absolutely spectacular. If you haven't already done it I would
highly recommend it. Great scenery. I'm sure we will be renting the house from you again in the future. Maybe
next summer.
Best wishes to you and yours,
Dan
